Priest Specs at Level 80

Post by Deathrevival » Thu Nov 20, 2008 7:35 pm

Here's some specs that I'd suggest for all you priesty types.

Shadow:

This shadow spec has all the essentials, in my opinion. It takes care of any mana issues that may occur by getting Veiled Shadows, reducing the cooldown on Shadowfiend. If threat's an issue, I'd suggest taking points out of either Veiled Shadows and/or Pain and Suffering and putting them into Shadow Affinity. I think that 3/3 Pain and Suffering is best so you won't ever have to worry about getting unlucky with it working, but 2/3 would also be acceptable. Ideally, with the way tanks are gaining threat, we shouldn't have to put any points into Shadow Affinity, except maybe for times where we have to AoE. But this is the spec that I'll be going with for raids.

Holy:

Discipline:

I'll be honest in saying that I don't know an incredible amount about holy/disc specs, since I've rarely been either of them in raids since before Burning Crusade. So both of those specs were taken from this link which ALL of you healing priests should at least take a look at.

I would like a little input about the Holy/Disc trees if we can. I am not 100% in agreement with these being that both seem to put all points in inspiration, and I am not sold on that talent. Someone .. sell me! I am thinking that the points could be used better in something like Holy reach along these lines for Holy:

Well if you are going to bother getting Holy Specialization you might as well get inspiration cause they help each other.
But if you don't want inspiration i would think Healing Prayers might be useful at 80 with the nerf to CoH having a 6 second cd.. or did they change that?
Holy Reach is good as well but its 20% of the radius not range.. so say CoH, 20% of 15 is only 3 so it won't make a difference.
Healing Focus might be good as well although I have no idea if there are many 'aura' fights at 80.
Anywho just my 2 cents.

I posted the wrong link. I meant this one:

I can understand about Holy Spec. helping Inspiration, but I really up to this point haven't really seen Inspiration help much as a whole. So why not go for something that may help every where as a whole, even if it is just a little bit rather than something that helps a little bit for a little bit. (Does that make sense??)

That's true, Rakuh. Inspiration would be much better for a Disc healing spec than for holy, since Disc is more useful for tank/single target healing. Whereas Holy is more AoE healing, as well as some single target healing.

I'm not so sure that you'll be needing Silent Resolve with how much threat tanks are generating. Only way I can see a healer pulling aggro is on the initial pull, or when adds come. And even then, we can just Fade and drop all our threat. Imp Inner Focus, on the other hand, gives a nice bonus to spell damage, and may be worth speccing into.
