Fury Nerfs

Post by Mahimar » Tue Mar 24, 2009 12:29 pm

Fury nerfs are getting out of control now. The most recent build on the PTR just put Betrayer behind a few other weapon choices. They want warriors to wear plate for the str instead of leather, but they didn't think about other items like Betrayer, Fury of the Five Flights, etc. With the 10% nerf to TG, the swap of weapon mastery, and now the change of Imp Berserk stance to 3/6/9/12/15% str instead of the 2/4/6/8/10% AP, they all but killed fury. I hope they do something or there will no longer be a reason to bring a dps warrior to a raid.

Every other class is seeing changes to their mechanics/gear scaling. Warriors using leather for the raw AP gain was not an intended design, thus they are fixing it. They've also recently changed around stats on a lot of the plate tier 8 gear to incorporate more strength so it should be more appealing to go for it. There's always speculation that changed are going to be drastic nerfs, but their intent is to balance classes/builds for the most part, if you're severely broken you will be fixed, just like anything else in the game.

Well said Naz. Remember, it's only a nerf when you look at it from our current gear/content level. Maybe some of the gear in Ulduar changes that to be not such a huge nerf. ALL classes are getting changed somewhat and by the time we're all in full T8 there will be more changes for "balance". It's the nature of the beast.

As many have said before me, it's not going to be so bad come Ulduar. If anything I see that change as a huge buff, it will help warriors focus more on the right stats other than what they can get for raw dps. All and all making them a more balanced class.

I guess I look at it as being a nerf because we have to gear up in T8 to produce the same dps as we are right now. I did see they already bumped up Imp Berserk to 20% str which should wash now, but make plate more appealing than leather. However, the -10% dmg from TG is still a 10% no matter how you look at it. It WILL require T8 gear levels to equal the same dps as current gear/build allows.

The reason for this is you currently play the BEST scaling dps class in the game. Currently, your class is topping meters at base level content. Would you rather see the nerf at the start to keep you in line for icecrown? Or, would you rather see it in the icecrown patch, where the effects would be on a larger scale?

/point....... /laugh

My guess for why rogues are in their current situation is because they were destroying people in PvP, so they were afraid to buff them in other ways. Not to say that this was a correct decision, but that would be my best guess for why they have been waiting until 3.1 to fix some things. That and they like to do major class changes during large content patches where everyone else is being changed = /.

And this is why we hate balancing the game around PvP, the main focus should be PvE.
